Are you self-conscious about signs of aging on your face? A facelift may help give you a more youthful appearance!

A facelift is a cosmetic procedure designed to improve the signs of aging on the face and the neck. A face lift may help reduce facial lines, wrinkles, sagging or a “turkey gobbler” neck.

How is a facelift performed?

The technique used will depend on your physical features and the surgeon’s method of choice. Generally an incision is made starting at the hairline near the temple, extending to a skin crease down the front of the ear, around the ear lobe, behind the ear, finishing at the hair line of the scalp. This incision area provides access for your surgeon to separate skin from the underlying fat and muscle.   The skin is then drawn upwards and backwards, and excess skin removed to rejuvenate facial appearance.

Recovery time

A facelift is performed under general anaesthetic and may last between 2- 4 hours. An overnight stay in hospital is normally required to allow you to rest following the procedure.

What results can I expect?

After you have healed your facial appearance will be refreshed and more youthful looking. Scars from the procedure will be hidden inconspicuously behind the ears and will fade considerably with time. In some cases, thickened scars may develop which will require treatment.
