Sometimes, no matter how much you diet or exercise, the fullness in this area may not go away – and it may make you feel like you look older and heavier than you actually are.

How double chin treatment works?

The active ingredients in the treatment is synthesised deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid also occurs naturally in the body. When injected below the chin, it reduces fat, resulting in a better contoured neck profile and jawline. As it is a prescription-only medicine, double chin treatment is only available in a doctor’s practice as a prescription medication.

The procedure is a non-surgical treatment The injectable treatment will be completed in your clinician’s office and should take approximately 20-30 minutes. The treatment will be customised for your individual anatomy and circumstances. Once your desired result are achieved, re-treatment is not expected as results are maintained for at least 4 years.

Results with double chin treatment

Many people treated with double chin treatment experienced visible improvement in the appearance of their chin profile in 2-4 treatments. Up to 6 treatments may be administered, spaced at least 4-6 weeks apart.

What can I expect during treatment?

Prior to administering double chin treatment, your clinician my apply ice/cold packs or topical and/or injectable local anaesthesia (e.g. Lidocaine) to the treatment area to make you more comfortable. They may also suggest that you take an over-the-counter pain medication before your appointment.

How many treatments will I need?

Many patients treated with double chin treatment experience visible improvement of their chin profile in 2-4 treatments. Some people require up to 6 treatments in order to achieve their best results. Once your desired results are achieved, additional treatments may not be needed as results are maintained for at least 4 years.

Are there any side effects?

As with other injectable treatments, you may experience side effects with double chin treatment. Most patients’ experiences mild or moderate pain or discomfort at the time the treatment is injected. Tell your clinician if you notice any of the following: Bruising, Numbness, Redness, Pain, Swelling, Tingling, Formation of small areas of hardness or Itching around the treatment area. While unlikely, talk to your clinician if you experience any of the following: trouble swallowing, an uneven smile, taste disturbances, or discolouration, unusual hair loss or an ulcer (open sore) at the site of injection.
